My Teaching Philosophy

I think, of course, that each child has some type of special need. Some needs, however, are more difficult to address in conventional methods than others. If possible, I think that special needs students should be given an educational environment that:

  • Does not intimidate or frighten them in any way that will impair their learning abilities after an initial introduction period.

  • Has frequent contact with "typical" students or other students with special needs, whether through play, shared learning methods, tutoring, etc.

  • Fosters and celebrates their gifts and talents.

  • Is in constant contact with the parents/guardians of special needs students.

  • Addresses and accommodates itself to the learning needs of each student as much as possible.
